Competence Expert OR, SD & Technic

Competence Expert Alex de Block has worked in healthcare for more than 45 years. As a former nurse, surgery assistant and operating theater manager, he has gained broad practical experience in various positions at hospital organizations in the Netherlands and abroad.

From 2000 to 2010 he worked as project manager and expert / consultant for interior design and logistics at the Building Installations Division of "RTB Van Heugten" (now "Royal Haskoning DHV").

He is currently specialized in broad advice, risk analysis, logistics and project management for renovation and new construction projects of Operation Rooms (OR) and Sterilization Departments (SD). Scope Cleaning and Disinfection Department (SCDD)

Practical knowledge coupled with technical expertise, gained during more than 40 OR, SD / SCDD and logistical projects, guarantee a unique and strong combination to translate wishes and possibilities into innovative and integrated concepts.

On behalf of the VCCN, (Netherlands) he was and is actively involved in the development of a new test method for classifying OR's and restrooms (VCCN guideline 7, November 2014), as well as the new guideline for the design, construction and start-up of the SD (VCCN guideline 11) , Ready in draft 2018).

Alex de Block is co-author of the publication "The development of Integral OR concepts" focused on innovative and integral design in relation to the OR and Sterilisation process.
